The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Service came into the existence as a result of state sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Tajikistan since 1991 has been training and preparing highly qualified specialist for all spheres of the economy of Tajikistan and other countries as well making essential contribution for the development of science and culture. The Institute was established by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministries of the USSR № 530 as of 29/07/1991 and decision of the Cabinet of Ministries of the Republic of Tajikistan № 26 as of September 2, 1991. It is under the subornation of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan. The status of the Institute is a multi profile higher school which has an official license AY № 000070 as of September 4, 2003, AY №000099 as of March 26, 2004 and AY №0000392 as of June 22, 2007 on performing educational activities in the filed of higher professional education and certificate on state accreditation ИА №00011 as of July 30, 2004, №11. The Institute is a member of the Academy of the International Science of Higher Schools, Association of educational institutions “Ednet”, and Association of International Universities “Tarena”.
At the beginning of its activities during 1991-1992 there were only chairs where worked only 2 doctors of sciences and 19 candidates of sciences, including 2 women who did research and pedagogical works. Only 6 out of all staff were permanent employees. During the period there studied 88 full time students who were trained on 4 specialists (world economy, economy and administration in plants, designing and popular skills (crafts)). In early times there was only the Educational corpus with 17 classrooms and the general fund of books consisted of 1012 copies. Today, there are curriculum, educational, scientific and international relations departments that perform activities within the structure of the Institute. The number of students are more than 3700 out of which 1533 are full time students. The students study and master the following 10 professions that subordinate to the faculties of Business and Finance, Entrepreneurship and Management (full time) and part time faculties.

The following 10 departments with 148 scientific and pedagogical staff are involved in teaching and educating the full time and part time students:

• Languages;
• History and philosophy ;
• High mathematics;
• Designing and IT;
• Finance and credit;
• Law and Customs;
• Accounting and audit;
• Management;
• World economy and international management;
• Theory of economy

Out of 148 there are 112 permanent employees among whom 14 doctor of sciences and 42 candidates of sciences. It should be emphasized that 18 of those are the graduates of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Service which makes 12.2 % of all scientific and pedagogical or 16.1 % of permanent scientific and pedagogic employees. Nowadays, there 4 studying buildings with 72 classrooms and 2246 seats, including 11 classrooms with 260 seats for the Gymnasium of the institutes and 21 specialized subject classrooms, including 3 for teaching Tajik language, 6 Russian language, 11 English language, 1 civil protection. There are 9 computer classes where 7 of them are specialty computer classes. The program on computerization of the institute has already been resolved successfully. Today, there are 163 Pentium III and IV computers and all of them are connected with INTERNET. Until now 2590 graduates received higher education since the establishment of the Institute and have been working in different fields of economy of the country and contributing to the development of national economy.
Such graduates has Kurbanov A.B-representative of National Parliament of Supreme Assembly and General Director of Open Stock Company “Textile”, Director of Open Stock Company “Furniture” and Mahkamov Kh.M - representative of local parliament of Dushanbe city, senior teacher of customs and taxation department and representative of Dushanbe city parliament Jalolova Z.S., General Director and representative of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan in Russia federation Umarov Bahodur, Davlat Nazri- advisor to the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan to Byelorussia, deputy Chairman of the department of the employment of the Ministry of Labour and social protection of the Republic of Tajikistan Faizov R.N., Hotamov D.D – doctorate in USA, Shodiev M – graduate student in Check Republic and Soibov F – the republican corporation president in the Republic of Uzbekistan as others. A special attention is paid not only to training and education, but also to the development of science. The Department of Attestation and Accreditation issued to the Institute a license under the code AY №0000303 as of October 25, 2006 based on the order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of the Tajikistan №986 as of October 25, 2006 to implement educational activities in the field of post higher education (graduate school) which increases the opportunity for science to be developed. Nowadays, there are 14 graduate students (9 first year and 5 second year students).
